Previous Conditions

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to performing dental procedures, or a condition that requires pre-medication with antibiotics prior to invasive dental procedures. The American Heart Association recently updated the list of conditions that require antibiotic pre-medication.  Many patients who once took antibiotics prior to dental visits may no longer require pre-medication.  Conditions that might require antibiotic pre-medication include uncontrolled diabetes, artificial heart valves, previous joint replacement surgery, pulmonary shunt, congenital heart defect, and previous bacterial endocarditis. To learn more about antibiotic pre-medication prior to dental treatment, please refer to the following American Heart Association Guidelines or contact our office to discuss any questions.
