No Jinxes

What a summer…right? Man, I quit blogging because my baseball brain suspected a jinx. Well what do you expect?…. everything I wrote about seemed to blow up. Mainly the Braves…geez, our rotation made up the majority of Dr. James Andrews’ surgery schedule this year and we actually traded away talent at the deadline….and that’s not even the worst of it. Skip Caray died…..HE DIED.

It didn’t stop there. Dave Matthews’ sax player Leroi Moore died (you’ve got to be kidding me). Heck, after all of that I didn’t blog about the Dogs out of fear. I didn’t want to jinx them too…..Apparently it didn’t matter, because we still lost the college WS, our O and D lines have lately been brutalized, Alabama throated us at home and Munson retired. Heck I’m a little nervous just typing this right now.

Also there seems to be something in the news about the economy…have you guys seen this? Something about it imploding. I’m certain if it’s a real problem our government will just handle it…

I really don’t think I should blog about the election, if you accept the notion that this blog is the jinx cornerstone of the free world. It might be like offering a hitching post to the four horsemen….yeah…now that I think about it, you probably should be very wary of horse enthusiasts for a little while (with all due respect to our vaunted equestrian team). I don’t necessarily think the apocalypse is upon us but things are getting a little sketchy lately (Britney Spears is looking pulled together).

Just make sure you vote.

OK to put a bow on the morbid portion of the new blog…let’s all raise a glass (and pour a little salad dressing on the ground) to one of the great philanthropists of the last 30 years, Mr. Paul Newman. A ladies’ man with only one lady until the end. We’ll miss you Butch.

Now…let’s shine a little sunshine on this deal. I hope you guys have noticed a few changes to the site, not the least of which are the additions to our team. Kelli Pounds and Keri Sanders have joined us full time and we are geeked about it. I hope you all take time to check out their bios. They have fit in like pieces of a puzzle….

The good thing about Kelli and Keri is that they’re not yet sick of my office mix (so far as I can tell)….but really how could they be? Why with such recent additions as Por Ti Volare by Andrea Bocelli (who is blind by the way…isn’t that right Kelli) and If I Had a Boat by Lyle Lovett, how can you not love it. With additions though, there must come retirees. Sadly, leaving the mix this week is the song You’re the Best by Mr. Joe “Bean” Esposito. The venerable montage track that helped Daniel-san win an entire Karate (pronounced Ka-ra -tay) tournament after only two weeks of yard work for Mr. Miyagi. Unfortunately the song never struck the same tone in the office and had to be put down. Respectfully though, it joined a long list of great tunes that just didn’t work out in the dental setting. I’m talking to you November Rain (unfortunately no GNR song lasted on the rotation…surprise, suprise…I was a little blindly hopeful on that one) and Ashokan Farewell (the theme in Ken Burns’ Civil War)….(AF didn’t work because, let’s face it…there’s only a small niche in which any track with spoken word works)….

I’m still looking for suggestions for tracks from the peanut gallery. Please keep them coming….all none of them…..tap, tap, tap….is this thing on?

….but seriously folks….The news at home centers around Brady’s agility classes. We couldn’t teach him how to hold a bat so… Kim settled for training him to jump through hoops (she’s good at that). He’s actually pretty good at it….he’s not that hard to train because he’s so food-motivated (most Halls are), but his ADD is wicked. Unfortunately he’s too exopthalmic for blinders (his distraction potential is off the charts)….he’s super excited about everything he sees (passion for one’s work…also a Hall trait).

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween. Watch out for the sweets and I promise another blog sooner rather than later (unless something bad happens to Ralph Macchio)…..

See you in the chair.

I have never enjoyed going to the dentist or to any physician as much as I do with Dr. Hall. You all treat me as if I'm family. Not only is the staff amazing, but I get to hear all about Brady as well as learn new things!I love the before and after pictures you have on the website. The changes made to teeth can affect so much of a persons life. Thanks so much for sharing successes. My current suggestions for music are: Counting Crows (they have a semi-new album out), Jem, David Gray, Steve Miller Band, Minnie Driver...I will come up with more at a later date if interested. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on Brady. Ellie is doing well. She isn't quite herself yet...still sticking close to me, but we will work on it together. Perhaps I should take her to therapy.

Thanks for the suggestions Elizabeth...I'm proud to say we've got some SMB and Counting Crows on the mix already. I've never really been fired up about David Gray even though he was originally signed by Dave's label, ATO records. I'm gonna re-listen to Minnie Driver and see if I can pick something out. If I put anything on there by Jem though, I think GI Joe or the Transformers might get jealous. Glad El's on the mend...nothing cuter(in a sad way of course) than a hobbled pup.

Glad you finally updated the blog! I'm sure you're happy that you haven't seen me in a few months. :) I love hearing how things are going with all of y'all. Jonah was Batman for Halloween. I was Robin. Oh yeah. Green tights and everything. You know you want to see it!
